Warbler Migration

This first photo is a stand of weeds that we let grow to produce millions of seeds for the wild birds that both migrate through from their breeding grounds up north and that reside here all winter.

If you are able to enlarge the photo enough, you’ll be able to find the Tennessee Warbler that you’ll see in the lower photos. It’s a vivid example of camouflage. On a personal level, it’s a testament that these old-lady eyes can still see movement in a sea of yellow for that is all I perceived as I aimed my lens and snapped.

This bird spent the summer in Canada and is en route to his winter grounds in Central and South America. I’m glad we were able to give him a source of food and shelter along his travels.
