Our “Farm Gone Wild” offers an abundance of Autumn feeding for our native birds. I’m amazed at how many different types of fruits that the native flora offers the birds and other animals at this time of year.
I have observed many Northern Mockingbirds taking advantage of the ripening fruits, like these native wild cherries that grown around our pond area.
There are also many wild Elderberry bushes that birds like the Northern Mockingbird, American Robin, Eastern Bluebirds and several other species consume.
I haven’t been able to identify this plant that produces what look a lot like the native cherries, but are different enough that I am pretty sure they aren’t. Perhaps, they are. Hard to say. These fruits are eaten by birds like the Gray Catbirds that I heard calling very close to where I filmed these fruits.
