Inspired by Dogs & Nature
I didn’t see these little birds’ parents when I came upon them near the old barn. They appeared to have some sense of security to be with each other. Still, when they flew to a tree about 100 feet from where I encountered them perched on an old fence, they were calling out. I can only assume they were hoping Mom or Dad would show up with a tasty worm.
I did observe one of the youngsters hunting from the top of Birdhouse “I.” Perhaps they were fledged from that location. It’s likely that the parents have regrouped and are building a new nest in order to have their second (maybe even third) brood for the season. Even during that phase, I have seen adults keeping their chicks close, and even offering them a snack on occasion.
I’m hoping they will do well and make it through the deep winter weather so that, perhaps, they will return to start their own families next Spring!
Hi, there, Thanks for subscribing to my blog. Bluebirds are my favorite bird; we have mealworm feeders right outside our bedroom windows. Love to see that flash of blue. Looking forward to catching up on your blog!
Beautiful picture!
