Amiable Authority

Developing a healthy relationship with your dog requires time, skill and dedication to the process.
It’s a relationship. You’re the “big person.” You need to take the helm and put in the effort to create and maintain a bond with your pup.

Training / Coaching / Instructing / Pet Parenting – how ever you choose to refer to it; being lazy or absent doesn’t work. Applying “band-aides” that, somewhere – someone wrote will fix a dog’s wayward behavior, is rarely successful.

Establish clear boundaries. Communicate them to your dog in a manner he understands. Reinforce the boundaries when he challenges them. Have as your goal; helping your dog understand what you expect. Most dogs ache to please their owners and want to be right. When they can’t figure you out, they will probably act out. That’s not the time to claim, “he’ll get better when he gets older.”

Choose amiable authority over ineffective apathy.
