Humility

I gazed upon a field of flowers

So soothing and calm, I could have stayed for hours

No bloom was the same, not one that I saw

It left me speechless, standing in awe.

It’s amazing that, upon closer inspection, every flower in the field of thousands is absolutely unique. Some are new and tender, others are dry, brittle and aged. But, beyond that grossly obvious perspective, there are so many subtle differences.

Many are wounded, having lost a little or a lot of their pedals. Some seem to present with that ‘perfect’ shape that is so pleasing to the eye, while others are a bit unbalanced in appearance.

Allow me to be totally vulnerable for a moment. At first I thought about excluding certain flowers from the frame as I cropped these images. I thought, “people will think this is an ugly photo,” or, “if only that dead one wasn’t so close to this perfect one, this would be a great image.”

And, then I realized they are all pretty, regardless of their imperfections. I felt a little shame for even having thought about excluding what is Nature’s brilliance. And, then I forgave myself, for my own imperfection of having felt shame!

What an interesting ride I took while processing simple photos of something as humble as clover.
