Gotta Love Me a Robin’s Nest

This one has been built in a pear tree in our little orchard, in the same place as last year.

I remember being a little kid as my mother reached up and held a hand mirror over a Robin’s nest that was built on our front porch light so that we could see the reflection of the contents. Every few days we would go out, “Now be very quiet and still,” she would say, and we’d check on the progress of those lovely blue eggs and the little chicks that hatched from them. It was a very special experience. I suppose that was my first introduction to wild birds and how awesome it is to observe them. Thanks, Mom.
