Inspired by Dogs & Nature
Somewhere between the thrill of getting a focused image of a bird I had never seen and today, a transformation has happened. I am still thrilled to encounter a new species and document it through photography. My species total stands at 79 birds I’ve filmed in my “backyard.” To me, that’s amazing.
However, I’ve recently learned that the actual subject isn’t always as inspiring as beholding the raw, natural beauty of an image of even the most ordinary birds.
The common species, like the house finch and the white-crowned sparrows have provided the opportunity for me to develop the artistic side to my hobby. They tend to remain still for a long while as I get the shot in focus. While these images may not display a fancy, uncommon species – they are, nonetheless, works of natural beauty in my eyes.
These next two shots are somewhat difficult to comprehend. If I were to ask a set director to position a bird in the middle of a broken heart of bramble, she couldn’t do as well as this “coincidence” I encountered. Oh, and I don’t believe in mere coincidence.
