It’s amazing how a phrase from a movie made in 1940 is still remembered, eighty years later. “My Little Chickadee” was a movie staring Mae West and W.C. Fields and was produced twenty years before I was born – and I’m old!
My little chickadee isn’t a movie. It’s a birdie. Actually, it’s several little birds that live mostly among the Ponderosa Pines and several stands of mature trees around our property. They announce their arrival with a zippy sounding vocalization, which is good since they arrive and fly off quite quickly.
My last post was about the Tufted Titmouse. The Chickadee seems to have some very similar qualities as the Titmouse – all of which I find quite endearing. They are quick, cheerful, agile and lovely. They are also known to create food caches for winter survival. Here I share some recently photos of the Black-capped Chickadee.
And, while I l already posted this next photo in the page called Birds, I have to share it again. Doesn’t this remind you of the entrance to a forest in a Harry Potter movie?
One of my favorite birds!!
