Last month, an Eastern Bluebird couple nested in a box on the north fence line (#13), but within a couple of days of hatching, the chicks were killed by House Wrens which then built their own nest on top of the Bluebirds’ nest. It was sad. I posted about that situation in a post called Straws vs Sticks.
Soon there after, I found the beginnings of a Bluebird nest in a box on the East fence line (#14.) And, later I posted a photo of the female setting on eggs. I’m fairly certain that this couple is the the pair that was displaced from box #13 by the House Wrens. I’m happy they found the time left in the season to start again.
Today, I photographed the newly hatched chicks, and their parents taking food to them! The birds were cautious that I was around, so I only stayed for a short time. Enjoy!
