Resident Ribbit

The water lily in my patio pond has been sending up lovely flowers all summer. It seems every time I go out to water the patio plants, I forget to take my camera in order to capture the beauty of the floating blooms.

A few days after the bud first breaks the surface, it opens during the daylight, but closes at night. Just a couple of days later, it’s gone. I must wait a week or two before the splendor of another flower emerges.

Even the emerging, new lily pad is worth capturing.

When I finally took the time to record this beauty, I noticed something basking atop a lily pad!

Apparently, the large farm pond, where this frog likely traveled from, isn’t as chic of a residence as my patio pond. Or, perhaps, he was escaping the chance to be consumed by the Great Blue Heron that frequents the pond.

Regardless of his intentions, I welcome him in my space.
