Eastern Meadowlark Call

When I see them atop a tree, I usually hear Meadowlarks presenting their “song.” While I hear it nearly every time I go out and about the property, I don’t recall a time when I saw a Meadowlark present it’s “call” (which I refer to as the “rattlesnake sound” for my personal identification strategy.)

I don’t know whether this bird was hot and panting AND calling, or if it always presents the call with an open beak. It would be interesting to know that little fact.
