Following My Passion

I’m not always the biggest fan of Social Media. However, I’ve learned that it’s possible to put filters on the information that I receive (to at least some level of control.) One can’t prevent being exposed to content that is just plain bad for the soul. Still, I’ve learned that I can select to receive information that I believe is helpful and worth my attention.

When I select “Follow,” regardless of what platform I may be viewing, I consider it a very critical decision. While I will candidly admit that I adore videos of amazing events in nature and toddlers who say way-too-adult things, most typically I choose to be exposed to content about self improvement – and I don’t mean exercise and diet channels. Routinely hearing affirming words about positivity, self-love and kindness are good messages. I believe that my selective process of screening out the ugly stuff and increasing access to beauty and good in the world is making a palpable impact on my life.

One side effect of seeing and hearing “good” messages is that I have decided to feel guilt free about spending time – as much time as I choose – on activities which increase my happiness.

That’s not such a big deal. People decide to do that all the time. Especially people of my age.

It is good for the soul to engage in activities about which one feels passionate.

However, what I believe I have finally been able to wrap my head around is this:

I may share my gifts with the world and feel deserving in that undertaking.

I’m going to suggest that my father, in an attempt to steer his kids to become successful adults, molded my view that art was a hobby rather than “work.” Additionally, for twenty years I worked as a professional scientist. There are some rules in science that need to be met or you aren’t doing ‘science.’

Art isn’t science. There aren’t any rules. It embraces creativity. In fact, Dictionary.com states:

Creativity – noun

The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns, relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods, interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination:

The Epiphany

My exposure to “good” social media influence has reinforced the idea that embracing one’s passion is important and is sometimes referred to as “the reason we are here on this planet.” That’s a pretty potent statement. I would probably say that Love is the reason we are on the planet. But, it’s hard to love someone if you don’t appreciate or accept yourself. It’s hard to love yourself if you are holding back from truly embracing your passion. In order to Love someone, you need to feel worthy of Love which is pretty strongly hinged on finding and embracing your passion.

From that fairly new personal perspective, I am going to confidently and graciously present my art to the world. I know that not everyone is going to like it, or understand it. And, I’m cool with that!

You will find most of what I share here at our Etsy site: https://www.etsy.com/shop/farmgonewild/

I believe that I’ve priced my work very reasonably and it ships FAST! Most if these painting are small (4×4″ – 5×7″) so they’ll fit on a desk, child’s room of they will brighten a corner table.
