Autumn Art

It’s been a while since I have posted here. Unfortunately, Robert and I came down with COVID and are slowly on the mend. It’s meant that I’ve had very little energy and become exhausted doing little to nothing!

There was one upside to this situation. Before we caught the virus, I had already slid into rekindling an old hobby of painting, and it’s something that truly takes very little energy…. well, at least if everything is set up and ready to go. Fortunately, I had already cleared my craft desk and established it as my mini art studio space, which included using some media that I’ve never tried before.

Here are a few of the pictures that were inspired by the season.

The Witch’s Cat – 4×6″ watercolor

Two Pumpkins – 3×3″ watercolor

A Pumpkin – 3.5×5.5″ charcoal pencils

The Howling Wolf – early attempt at acrylic (7×9″)

Spooky Night – 5×5″ acrylic

Autumn Maple Leaf – 8×8″ watercolor

Autumn Stump – 8×8″ watercolor

Avocado – 8×8″ very first attempt at oil pastels

I consider this hobby as therapy. First, it is one of those diversions which requires sufficient concentration that my mind doesn’t wander to other (usually uninvited) thoughts. Second, there’s no pressure to be immaculate; the results don’t need to be “right” because Art isn’t meant to be perfect.
