BLUE

I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of this Indigo Bunting as it landed on a fence wire and began to nibble on the pedals of the red clover that grows in a hay field.

I suspect the blooms are quite sweet, based on my observations of bees and other nectar seeking insects. And, of course “clover honey” is a thing! I just always thought about this species as a seed-eater, as that’s what I’ve seen in the past. I’m happy to have these little gems teach me new things all the time!

I wish it has been a sunny day, because that blue is brilliant in the light. But, I’m grateful for the opportunity to witness this handsome bird.
