Inspired by Dogs & Nature
Along with Aspen (ASPEN IN TRAINING) Odie is here for Custom Service Dog training. His family’s disabled little boy will be partnered with Odie soon.
Here are some short training clips of Odie during a Public Access outing.
Odie has learned to remain in a sit or a down position while his handler does routine “life” things. He should remain calm, relaxed and in place regardless of the handler’s movements. It’s important that a Service Dog learns to take verbal or visual cues, but to refrain from triggering on the handler’s body movements including when the leash is retrieved.
This next video shows Odie working on the “dropped leash” exercise. If the handler inadvertently drops the leash, Odie should continue walking calmly alongside him.
Odie is welcome to play with his toys on his own time. But, when out in public, he must learn to ignore the desire to engage with toys – even ones with a great squeaker!
