Inspired by Dogs & Nature
I take pictures, but I’m not really a photographer. I keep the camera setting on auto-focus because I can’t fathom having to do that on my own with the speed and directional changes that birds make. I only minimally understand the lighting “stuff” about shutter speed, and never mess with the ISO settings. And, except for using the cropping, “brighten” or “contrast” features in a basic PaintShop program, I don’t have the software to enhance an image.
What you see is what I got. Sometimes, I get an image that makes my heart sing.
These are photos that I’ve taken recently that fit into the “OMG I can’t believe how cool that looks” category from my own, personal perspective. I’m really not braggin’ on my skills because I do not feel that I had much to do with capturing such natural beauty out in meadows that I am so fortunate to visit. That is what makes these photos so special – it’s just the authentic, natural beauty that was caught in a series of ones and zeros on an SD card. It’s as if magic and engineering collided for a brief moment in time to create art.
Some images I have cropped to different sizes to provide the varying artistic perspective of that which surrounds the bird. That framing can have a significant influence on the overall impression of the picture.

I love how the two strands of barbed wire roll above and below the bird.

I call that curved branch upon which the bird is sitting, the “Harry Potter” location because I have captured many images of birds on that branch and, when the lighting is right, it looks like a mystical forest.

This reminds me of my college days – the school colors were crimson and gold!

This photo says solitude to me. The bright, cheery yellow of the Goldfinch juxtaposed against the steel gray-blue sky is compelling.

The curved barb wire reminds me of the treble and base movement of musical notes. It is as if the meadow is singing.

To me, this top picture looks more like a painting than a photo.
