Let’s Do It Again!

Tree Swallows are in the front yard box, again. This is the box that I posted about here: tammierogers.wordpress.com/2020/04/27/kids-helping-their-parents/

Back in April, we knew there were four eggs in the box, and I am fairly certain I observed the parents taking food into the box less than a week after we observed the eggs. Time flew by, I got busy with “real” work, the weather didn’t cooperate when I was able to film. Then, we checked again, and the nest was chick-less! It’s crazy how fast little birds develop and take flight.

Recently, we have observed a Tree Swallow pair occupying the same box – we didn’t remove the empty nest. So, I am assuming it’s the same pair. There’s a different pair of Tree Swallows in the office (back) yard center box.

Here are a few pictures of the status of the front yard box. It appears that they are incubating and mama bird hunkered down when the door was opened for inspection. I hope that business life doesn’t interfere with my hobby! Maybe I can catch this pair feeding and then fledging their chicks this time!

As is customary for Tree Swallows, this pair has made a grass nest lined with feathers. Looks cozy!
